Regents Road Widening
Construction start: July 2016
Anticipated completion: March 2017 for Athena Way
December 2017 for Regents Road
This City of San Diego project widens Regents Road between Genesee Avenue and Executive Drive from the existing two lanes to four lanes and adds new bike lanes. Regents Road provides access to UC San Diego’s east campus including parking facilities, graduate housing facilities, Moores Cancer Center and the UC San Diego Science Research Park.
Athena Way, a connector road between Athena Circle and Regents Road will be built in conjunction with the Regents Road widening. Access to the UC San Diego East Campus will be available via Athena Way before Regents Road widening is completed.
The widening of Regents Road will occur in phases and impacts will be intermittent. During construction, expect the following:
- Two-way traffic and pedestrian access will continually be available.
- The Athena Way project site will be enclosed with temporary fencing in mid-July 2016.
- Construction of the connection of Athena Way to Regents Road will intermittently impact vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the west side of Regents Road.
During construction, motorists are urged to slow down. All travelers are encouraged to give themselves more time and anticipate possible traffic delays.
